This is what knocked my rear tire for a loop and had us all confused as to what the hell went wrong with my bike. The tire never lost any air so it wasn't until they got it up on the rack that this was spotted. The second photo is the actual bolt next to a ballpoint pen to give a sense of perspective on how long that bad boy is; 5 1/2" end to end.
KUDOS to my dealer and their service manager; they took care of everything in record time and while they were replacing the rear tire they received a recall for the front tire so I now have brand new tires (front and rear) for the trip. A lucky break after what started out to be a really crappy day.
BTW; the new pipes are very nice and should break in nicely with that mellow rumble.
