I just got off the phone with Ray Frase (our Army rider) and it looks like he may be dropping out of the ride for family reasons. I understand his reasoning and we'll miss him. But, everyone has to make their own decisions and this is a big commitment of time and money. Plus, Ray has done this before so it wouldn't be quite the new adventure it's going to be for me and Jim. I also just spoke with Jim and he and Darlene are on the way up to Michigan. While we were on the phone I had him check out the back window to make sure his bike was still on the trailer and he hadn't lost it. He assured me it's there and they will be back in Michigan by tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest. It will be good to get some riding in with him before we depart. We need some freeway practice so maybe we'll make a run to the bridge to check out the steel grates.
That's all for now; keep checking back for more updates and I will post a photo of the t-shirt as soon as they arrive.
Ride safe; Blue get rid of that cold.

If the grating on the bridge or wind become a problem we should be able to trailer the bikes across, so, keep that option in mind. If there is any question or doubt it's best to be on the safe side.
ReplyDeleteI know the first time I crossed that bridge in a big truck I sat on the edge of the seat and my knuckles were white.
It will be wind or fog that will be a problem. If we have to trailer them to get across then so be it. I suspect by July 4th the weather will be much better and we won't have a problem. It's a neat bridge and the U.P. is like a whole new world compared to the Lower Peninsula (where us trolls live)
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear Ray has pulled out, but as we all know, 'family first'.
ReplyDeleteJust did 2 night shifts and I don't think the cool air did me any good, popping pills by the dozen here!
My sister's birthday tomorrow, she lives in Margaret River which is about 2 1/2 hours South of here, so if she is free, I will ride down there and back to get some time up.
Blue *_*
Bummer that Ray won't be on the trip. I can't remember where he lives. Will he be a the send of dinner? Sure would like to meet him.
