This page will serve as a "wish list" of people we hope to meet along the way. I'm sure it will grow as time and the other participants add to it. There will be another page that will allow us to chronicle who we actually get to meet. That page will include photos, if I can figure it out.
My current list of people I hope to meet along the way.
Ron Mitchell in Wisconsin
Russ Henkel in Wisconsin (served with Russ on Skipjack)
Doc Woody Reed in Idaho (served with him on Skipjack and he is the man who convinced me to become a corpsman)
Don Gentry in Washington (the whole reason this ride is going to the Seattle area)
Bob Opple and the guys from SSMC including Doug Dahlke
Jack Moss in Washington (we went to NucMed School together)
Pat Householder, Ric Hedman, John Clear, Dan Martini (all in Washington)
Ron Martini in Wyoming (Ron is the reason I'm in USSVI)
Adding Jack Brown from the Blue Crew of SSBN 600. Jack lives in Portland and we've been swapping lies for years.
Feel free to add people you hope to meet on this trip via the comment option
ReplyDeletePeople I know and am looking forward to seeing again are, You and Pat...Bob McManus...Ron/Carol Mitchell...Don Gentry.. Ric Hedman.. John and Millie Clear..Cora....Kathy and her family...OK, and Ralph too! lol I haven't met Pat Householder or Ron Martini and am looking forward to seeing them for the first time plus any other of the guys from the BBS's
ReplyDeleteI added Dan Martini to the list. Dan and I first met at the convention in Kansas City. He had to babysit Chief Clear to keep him out of trouble
ReplyDeleteTuesday morning on 7-13-2010 stop for coffee break in Centralia, WA, at I-5 exit 82. (just 8 miles from my home) It was good to do a grip and grin for a few moments, checking eyeballs. Dave Stoops even stopped in for hello. I am thankful the tour group stopped and as always, so much that could have been done, but the hours and days wait for no one. Blessings requested for the return trip home for all the SSMC riders.
ReplyDeleteAgain THANK YOU Doc Gardner, for the handshake.
(as well as all the others I met.)
Don "donmac" Smith
We got to see some of the people on the list and others we were not able to due to time, or distance.
ReplyDeleteIt was great to see Doc Reed after 45 years; and to catch up with Bob McManus, John Clear, Ron Martini, Don Mac Smith and Dave Stoops. It was also my pleasure to finally meet Ric Hedman and Don Gentry (who rode with us as part of SSMC).
And it goes without saying it was a thrill to meet and ride with the guys from SSMC; Bob Opple, Bill Linn and his wife Margie, Ken Board, Tim Floersch and Dave Landerman. We tried to link up with Dan Martini while we were visiting Ron but couldn't reach him. He was probably hiding from us.
Sorry we missed, Ron Mitchell, Jack Moss, Doug Dahlke, Russ Henkel and Pat Householder. Guess I'll have to go to another convention.
