152 days to the Ride

Tear another month off the calendar and whammo; it's February. Seems like only yesterday it was still 2009 and the ride was a long way off. I love "milestones" because it keeps my head into what we are planning to do and keeps me excited to get started. In about 6 weeks I'll be able to get the bike out of storage and do some practice riding again. I plan on putting another 1,000 miles on the bike before we go, getting the oil changed and any last minute adjustments done and then getting it packed for the big day.
There's not been updates from Ralph so I don't think he has finished scouting out the areas where we will stay/camp each night. But, I have faith that he will get it all done by the time we shove off.
The next five months of "anticipation" are going to be a combination of the shortest and longest I've ever spent.

  1. Sorry about being a little slack, Doc. Been up to my eyeballs with some local politics. Clear of that now and beginning to look at the trip plans again.
I sent Blue some road maps with the route highlighted. He is going to look at what might interest him along the way. I think it would be good if all the riders did that also. We've got time to make adjustments.
Somewhere along the way I aquired a hernia on my left side. Got an appointment with the "sawbones" on the 16th. Hopefully, shortly there after I can get the job done and be ready ride. If my voice raises and couple octives we'll know he had to go a little deeper to make corrections. Monday morning I put my lower back out...again.So, it hasn't been a fun filled week here, however, the Chirop. is beating me up and I should be back up to speed the 1st of next week. This getting older sucks.

  2. Many thanks for those maps mate, my initial thoughts on 'what I would like to see' is the Battle of Little Big Horn Monument and the surroundings. It's near Rontinis home, at least 90 miles away and along the route I believe? Also 'Old Faithful'. I fully understand there is a route planned and deadline, and I am only one of 6 or 8 people taking part in this, so if we miss these places, then 'such is life' as we say. I shall check out the maps in more detail soon!

  3. Blue:
Both of those sights are on the agenda; Old Faithful is in Yellowstone which we will be traveling through and Little Big Horn is a planned stop.
