OK guys; here's your chance to have some input. I'm trying to plan our pre-ride cookout on July 3rd. I've already asked Blue to educate me on what are the appropriate Aussie beers to lay in. Now I need to know what we want to have for food; burgers, brats, steaks, shrimp (on the barbie of course)? Let me know.
The one thing we don't want to do is overindulge (me anyway). Riding with a hangover is not something I want to try. I figure we'll spend a good portion of Saturday making the final preparations; letting those of you who don't know the others get acquainted and laying out the first day's ride plans. Then it's time to lay back, enjoy the day, eat some food, have a beverage or two and let the adventure take hold.
Chime in with your thoughts.

Not that I was ever able to handle full strength beer ( but drank it anyway ) these days, I drink either Mid Strength beer at 3.5% or Light Beer which is at around 2.2%.
ReplyDeleteHere in Perth I drink either Carlton's Mid Strength, or Cascade Light. Actually, truth be known, I will drink anything. On the odd occasion, I drink Guinness...you just can't beat that, and yes, I know it is full strength *_*
One thing that got us Aussies in trouble a few times was drinking your beer but with the words 'LITE' added. We believed we were drinking 2.2% beer, but of course what we were drinking was full strength with low calories.....boy did we get pissed, whilst maintaining our trim taught terrific bodies! LOL
You must realize that Blue does stretch the truth just a mite with that last sentence.
ReplyDeleteDoc, Blue like most Aussies I've found WILL drink anything. When he gets here I've got a surprise for him....I still have a Guinness and a Killians left from when he was here last. *_*
Actually, Blue can put a pretty good suction on some Coors Lite. That's what he drank while in DC...although he may not remember. Tastes might have changed, so, we'll have to oil him up with whatever is on hand.
Should I donate a couple of my homemade Porters to the cupboard? I don't think any of them are above 7%. That's a good lite beer... Hamburgers sound great. You know Bairn - burgers, shrimp, brats, whatever, fine with him.
ReplyDeleteYou will have a hard time finding Lite beer at my house. My feelings are if you can't chew it then don't bother. Blue made a dent in my supply of Guinness when he was here but, seriously, I have a local supplier that I will visit this weekend and see if he carries any of the Aussie beers that Blue mentioned. Plus, we're close enough to Canada to get some of the good stuff they have over there.
